T Pass Program

T Passes are available in the main office during the last week of the month for the upcoming month.  They are available on a first come first serve basis.  T Passes are on Magnetic Charlie Tickets and may be reserved by paying in advance at the main office.

CharlieCards, which can have value added at any time at any fare vending machine in the MBTA system are available in the Deans' offices.

Following is an excerpt of a letter from the MBTA explaining the Student Pass Program:

"Effective January 1, 2007 the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) will have a new fare structure in place.  As a component to the new fare structure Student Monthly Passes will increase to $20.00 per month.  As always, the student passes will continue to be shipped by the MBTA or picked up by authorized school staff on the scheduled dates.

Student Monthly Passes will remain on the magnetic Charlie Tickets for unlimited travel on bus, subway, express bus, and commuter rail zones 1A, 1 and 2 until 8 PM on school days.  For schools that distribute MBTA Student Badges to those who are not monthly pass holders, the MBTA will be shipping Student CharlieCards for the pay-as -you-go student riders within two weeks.  For the remainder of the school year students who ride the commuter rail to and from school will continue to show their student badge and pay the reduced fare in cash.  The commuter rail is scheduled for conversion to the Automated Fare Collection (AFC) system during the summer of 2007.

CharlieCards are durable plastic cards with an embedded chip that stores value.  They are reusable and students can add value to them at any time at any fare vending machine at stations throughout the MBTA system.  Then they simply tap their CharlieCard on the black target at the farebox on buses or faregate at subway stations to board."
