PARCC Field Assessment - Spring 2014

This spring, the Public Schools of Brookline will participate in the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC), a new assessment based on the Common Core Standards being field tested in school districts throughout Massachusetts.  The PARCC Assessment could potentially replace the MCAS as our statewide assessment system.  This field test is an opportunity to “test the test,” providing the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) with valuable information in deciding whether to adopt PARCC.

The PARCC assessment field test is administered in English Language Arts and Mathematics and is comprised of two components: a Performance-Based Assessment (PBA) and an End-of-Year Assessment (EOY).  Not all grades and classrooms will participate in the field test and no student will take the entire complement of the PARCC assessment.  If your child's classroom will be participating in the field test, you will receive notification.

The PARCC field test is a tremendous undertaking and, in order to better inform parents and guardians, below are links to past correspondence and resources that may be helpful.  If you have any questions concerning the PARCC assessment, please contact your building Principal or Vice Principal.
