The Public Schools of Brookline (PSB) are committed to providing a safe environment during the COVID-19 pandemic. According to public health experts, vaccination is the leading prevention strategy to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, reduce hospitalizations and severe disease, and keep members of our school community safe.
On September 9, 2021, the Brookline School Committee voted to require all PSB staff to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, unless they receive approval for a documented medical or religious exemption. Exempted employees must provide continuing proof of negative COVID-19 test results. Non-exempted staff will have until November 1 to submit proof of vaccination.
The staff COVID-19 vaccination policy is available here. This policy will go into effect immediately for all non-unionized PSB employees, and for unionized employees once the School Committee reaches agreement with their respective unions. Given the urgent need to prevent the spread of the Delta variant, we are hopeful that we will reach agreement quickly.
