Deadline Extended to Submit Reopening Form to August 26

Dear PSB Parents and Guardians,

Last Friday, we sent a reminder requesting that you complete the PSB Reopening Form for the 2020-21 School Year. We have extended the deadline for families to complete this form to Wednesday, August 26. The information collected in this form is necessary for PSB to better understand enrollment and staffing needs and determine class placements and building set-ups.  Please review the materials in detail and complete the reopening form on the Aspen Parent Portal. Video instructions to complete the form can be found here, and also on our district website www.brookline.k12.ma.us/reopen

PSB is offering families a school-based instruction option or a remote-only option through the district’s Remote Learning Academy (RLA). If PSB does not receive a submission from you by August 26, we will automatically place your student in school-based instruction. As a reminder, school-based instruction is defined in the RemotePlus model as:

  • Kindergarten students returning back to full-time in-person learning, starting September 16.
  • Students in grades 1-12 beginning the year fully remote starting September 16.
    • Students in grades 1-12 will return to school buildings for in-person learning on a hybrid schedule as buildings meet our enhanced ventilation targets.

Please note if you already made a selection for your child(ren) and wish to revise your choice, you may do so until August 26.

We have also updated our health and safety measures - including the purchasing of personal protective equipment (PPE) and portable HEPA air filters for classrooms - as we continue to develop our plans to reopen. For more information on what health and safety protocols we will enforce, please review our frequently asked questions (FAQ) webpage and pages 23 - 30 of our reopening blueprint.

Finally, we hope you can participate in the upcoming parent forum with Interim Superintendent Jim Marini tomorrow from 2:00 - 3:30 p.m., hosted by the Brookline Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC). Dr. Marini and his team will discuss reopening, and implications for special education and will answer questions from the community. You can register for the online meeting here.

Sincerely,

The Public Schools of Brookline
