2020-21 Superintendent's Opening Message: Welcome Back!

Dear PSB Community,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! Whether you are joining us in-person or remote, all of us at PSB are eager to see our students and families back in school. This year will be unique and unlike any other we have seen in the past. As our community continues to be impacted by racial injustice, the COVID-19 pandemic, and other social challenges, I encourage all of us to remain patient, flexible, and understanding of one another.

To our families, we want to remind you that we are here to support you and your child(ren) in whichever learning model you selected. We are especially excited to launch the Brookline Remote Learning Academy and welcome the students and staff who have elected to enroll. At this point, our schedules are set. We ask that families commit to their learning model until early November when the district will again provide a choice option or families. As always, our principals and teachers are here to support you and your child(ren) and you should always reach out to them with concerns or questions.

Finally, in our preparations for the first day of school tomorrow, our school leaders have put together a special "Welcome Back!" video. For families, please share this video with your children so they can see how excited we all are to welcome them back! We are also working on an online Reopening Hub that will continue to be updated with important information for our entire community of students, staff, and families.

On behalf of our staff, we look forward to a successful and rewarding school year and I wish everyone a great first day back!

Sincerely,

James Marini
Interim Superintendent
