September 2020 Update from PSB Food Services

Dear Brookline Families,

Thank you for your support and patience during the first week of food services. Brookline was an early adopter in using new software that was specifically developed to meet the challenges of serving meals during COVID. As with any new software program, there were difficulties to work through. We want to assure you that we are aware of some technical problems while placing orders. As a result we have made the following updates to the ordering process.

  • If you are able to place an order using LINQ Online Ordering, we encourage you to continue to do so.

  • If you are having problems placing your order, or if we do not receive your order, we want to reassure all families that their student will be able to place their order from the default menu items offered daily at the time of service. Any student that needs a lunch will be served an item of choice from this menu.

  • We do ask for flexibility in this scenario, as all students may not receive their first-choice for lunch.

  • If your student has any food allergies or serious food preferences, and you are not able to note them on their online order, please DO NOT email teachers or school staff. Instead, please email Tess Washburn and Donna O’Dell directly at least one day in advance. Please include the following in the email:

    Date of Lunch:
    Student Name:
    Lunch Order:
    Allergens/Dietary Preference:

  • Please note, we are operating peanut-free kitchens at this time to safeguard against cross contamination during service and distribution.

  • Meals will be packaged by class/teacher's name or grade group. For example "Ridley 4-6 group" or "Ridley/Gordon".

  • An assortment of items from the daily menu listed below will be provided to all classrooms as backup for a student who may have missed preordering.

Offered Daily:

Turkey & Cheese Sandwich

Ham & Cheese Sandwich

Bagel Lunch (w/yogurt)

Sunbutter & Jelly Sandwich

Chicken Caesar Salad

Caesar Salad

Garden Salad

Assorted Bento Box

We appreciate your patience and flexibility, and are so grateful for your participation in the school meal programs during this time.

For your convenience, we created an “How to Guide” to walk you through the ordering process. For students learning in-person, we strongly encourage parents to submit their order a day in advance, especially for those students who have food allergies.

Parents with students who are learning remotely do not need to pre-order online, and should continue to pick up meals at the site most accessible to them (see table below).

All meals are FREE to families through December 31, whether parents are ordering online for in-person learning or picking up at a pick up site for remote learning.

Pickup days are Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays.
