Update on Picking Up Items From CCS
Next week the staff at CCS will be in the building Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday helping pack up items at school. On Thursday afternoon I will have a better sense of whether we are able to start scheduling families to come retrieve items during the week of June 1st or we need additional time to pack. Please keep an eye out for a special communication on Friday, May 29th about next steps for picking up items.
Class Placement Process Communication
I will be sharing a separate communication on Tuesday evening that outlines the goals and procedures of our class placement processes for the 2020-2021 school year. Please hold off on communicating requests and sharing feedback until you have had a chance to read that document.
Middle School Study Halls
This group meets weekly to virtually share a quiet, positive working space together. The facilitators will explore Zoom norms and briefly discuss best practices for a productive working space at home. Students will then split into smaller virtual rooms with varying levels of support and engagement: calm/quiet room, moderately quiet working room, teacher assisted room. Each small group room will be monitored by a CCS staff member and will continue to encourage independent work at this time.
Middle School Study Hall #1 Wednesday 12:00-1:00
Meeting ID: 939 9040 6661
Middle School Study Hall #2: Thursday 2:00-3:00
Meeting ID: 943 7808 2411
Social-Emotional Check-ins with Mr. Simolaris, Ms. Spitz, & Ms. Riley
This social-emotional group meets weekly with the K-2 vice principal, guidance counselor, and inclusion facilitator. During the group, students will participate in brain and body activities, engage in lessons about understanding emotions, identifying coping strategies, and strengthening self-awareness, as well as get an opportunity to connect with K-2 grade-level peers.
These meetings take place on Fridays at 11:30a.m. and the link is shared by our K-2 teachers.
Incoming Kindergarten Family Forum
While we are sad to miss the in person welcoming of our new kindergarteners our team is working hard on creating virtual experience to help support the transition to kindergarten. This week we will be hosting a Family Forum designed just for our incoming kindergarten families at 8:30a.m on Thursday morning.
Meeting ID: 851 9715 1167
Focused Family Forums in June
During the month of June we will shift the focus of our Family Forums slightly. We will still provide school specific updates and space for families to provide feedback as we have weekly since the start of the school closure. Each meeting we will focus our time together on specific topics including: supporting student’s growth and achievement next school year (including what we can expect from school closure, accessing general education supports and interventions, special education services and processes), our school renaming, planning forward for the 2020-2021 school year. As we solidify topics and dates I will be sure to share those in advance.
I will be in the building all next week supporting our staff in packing up student materials. While I don’t anticipate having to cancel any scheduled meetings my availability to respond to email may be slowed. I appreciate your patience.
I hope to see many of you Tuesday night at our Family Forum/School Council meeting. Enjoy the long weekend!
