The Edith C. Baker School serves the Chestnut Hill neighborhood of Brookline and is one of the largest elementary schools in the town, with a population of over 790 students. Baker School is an “international” school, where fully one-third of the student population speaks English as a second language at home. A vibrant PTO organizes numerous educational and social events throughout the year to nurture and maintain a sense of school community. Baker School utilizes the resources of the K-8 structure and encourages cross-grade level partnerships.
The Bulldog Bulletin
The Bulldog Bulletin is the bi-weekly bulletin/ newsletter for the parents and guardians of Baker School students. It will contain news, upcoming events, tidbits, and "good-to-knows" for the Baker community. As of right now, The Bulldog Bulletin will be published bi-weekly (every two weeks), however, this could change in the future if I find that a weekly bulletin is more appropriate. The Bulldog Bulletin will be sent out during or right after a school weekend, however, this could also change (or become more defined) as I work on updating Baker School’s communication routine over the next several months.
Each edition of The Bulldog Bulletin will eventually be placed on the Baker School website and sent to parents via email.
The mascot for the Baker School is a bulldog and we are affectionately known as the “Baker Bulldogs.” From my short time here, I have come to feel that the bulldog theme is not used enough here at Baker. So, having “The Bulldog Bulletin” for parents and for the community is a step in the right direction in embracing our bulldog identity.
