Math League & MathCounts
Math Counts is a nationwide Mathematics Competition program and is open to all 8th graders at Pierce who are interested in exploring challenging middle and high-school level mathematical concepts in a relaxed, collaborative setting. The season starts in November with weekly after-school practice sessions and culminates with a regional interscholastic competition in February. More information can be found by visiting www.mathcounts.org. Please contact Jim Stoddard with any questions.
Math League has been suspended since 2020. When a decision is made about if and when Math League returns, we will post information here.

Check out MATHCOUNTS Week—a virtual celebration for the entire MATHCOUNTS community! MATHCOUNTS is hosting exciting online math activities at Pi Time (3:14pm ET) each day next week, 5/11 through 5/15. On Friday, the finale will be a Q & A with John Urschel, mathematician and former NFL football player.
AND YOU CAN TAKE THE MATHCOUNTS STATE COMPETITION!
This free, just-for-fun, online version of the 2020 State Competition will be available on the AoPS website for anyone to take from 8am ET on Wednesday, May 13 until 12pm ET on Thursday, May 14. Everyone who participates can enter into a prize drawing for TI calculators (not based on score)!
The Open MATHCOUNTS State Competition will include a Sprint, Target and Team Round with the same time constraints as in-person MATHCOUNTS competitions. Contestants do not have to compete in the Team Round to compete in the individual rounds, but we encourage you to form a team and try it out! For this event, schools are not limited in the number of students or teams that can compete. Learn more about finding and competing with a team hereThe Open MATHCOUNTS State Competition will end on Friday with the world's largest interactive Countdown Round. Create an AoPS account to participate!
