Starts in the Fall:

• LIT Team (Library Intern Team): Sixth graders can be part of the Library Intern Team and volunteer in the library after school for 30 minutes one day a week.  Volunteers sharpen their skills  — such as collaboration, organization, and knowledge of the library and its operations – while at the same time helping the library run smoothly and having some fun!  Interns engage in tasks such as advising the librarian about book purchases, adopting a section of the library to maintain, stickering books, and helping to process new books. The library runs more smoothly because of their efforts!
  
• GSA (Gender Sexuality Alliance): All middle school students are welcome to join the Lawrence 6-8 GSA. It is a safe space where students can meet to focus on issues and causes they want to support, activities they want to hold, and topics they want to discuss. In the past, the GSA has led fundraisers, sponsored decorating events, and partnered to help paint the crosswalks outside Lawrence for pride month. Discussions and activities are age and school appropriate. 
  
• Model UN (with Pierce students): will start up again in 2023-24
  

Starts in January

• Middle School Musical: Students in grades 6-8 rehearse for the middle school play twice a week for 75 minutes! Student actors auditioned for roles exploring multiple different styles of performance arts: musical theater, Shakespeare, satire, pop music, and more! The play in 2023 explores the question - If you read as many plays as possible in one year, what would you dream?
