Remote Learning Resources/Principal's Challenge
Posted by Monica Crowley on 4/8/2020 7:00:00 AM
All schools are closed until May 4, 2020 due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak per order of Governor Baker. Please check the Public Schools of Brookline website for information if needed.
The School Committee voted on April 6, 2020 to cancel April vacation. Remote school will be in session on April 21, 22, 23 and 24. Monday, Patriot's Day, will still be an observed holiday with no remote learning expectations.
The last day of school will now be June 23, 2020.
Good Friday, April 10, 2020. Teachers will not assign anything to be due on that day or on Monday April 13 in accordance with our Category 1 holiday policy.
Passover, Evening of April 8-Evening of April 16, 2020.
April 8: Category 2 Holiday-Homework free weekend
April 9-16: Category 3 Holiday: Adjustments made by request by parent or student
Dear Families,
We hope all of you are well and finding opportunities to find joy with your family during this challenging time. We have redesigned the column to the right with a new heading, "School Closure Resources."
As you can see the first link is named "Lawrence Teachers Online." This link will lead students and families quickly to their homeroom teacher or middle school content sections. In addition to the Lawrence teacher site, we have included important other district links that have been shared since schools were closed (in one place.)
Principal’s Challenge
Once all your schoolwork is complete, take some time to use your imagination and build a home fort!
Remember to ask your parent/s/caregiver/s permission first -:)
What kind of fort can you build in your house or in your yard? How creative can you be? How can you use information learned in school about structures and engineering to help with your design?
I shared four videos via email to help you get started. The first video in particular simply explains the science involved in building a solid fort, so check in out first. (Please refer to the email I sent on 4/7/20)
Once you build your fort, take a picture or short video and upload it to the Lawrence Fort Album. (Please refer to the email I sent on 4/7/20 after 5pm) Families and staff have already uploaded already pictures, and they are so fun. Thanks!
ENJOY and stay healthy,
Mrs. Crowley
