On Thursday, March 4, with a unanimous vote, the School Committee approved Dr. Linus Guillory as the new Superintendent of the Public Schools of Brookline, beginning July 1, 2021 and pending successful contract negotiations.
Dr. Guillory brings a wealth of experience to Brookline. He has been a classroom teacher, a principal, curriculum leader, and deputy superintendent over his 20-year career in education. In addition, he worked at the NASA Space Center in Houston for 6 years as an education specialist helping educators access NASA education products. Dr. Guillory earned his BA in Biology with a minor in chemistry at Texas A&M; he went on to earn his PHD in Environmental Science at Oklahoma State University.
Dr. Guillory is a collaborative leader, who puts children first along with the joy of learning. His colleagues and supervisees describe him as an excellent listener and thought partner, who is always available to help out. The community in their feedback highlighted his interpersonal skills and his commitment to putting students first as a good fit for Brookline.

2/12 Update: Finalist Selected
Posted by Superintendent Search Team on 2/12/2021During their meeting on Thursday, February 11, 2021, the School Committee announced that Dr. Linus Guillory has been named a finalist for the superintendent of schools. The full report of the Search Committee that outlines the search process and provides a summary of Dr. Guillory’s credentials can be found below.
The district looks forward to welcoming Dr. Guillory to Brookline for a site visit that will be scheduled on a date after the school vacation. As part of that visit, there will be opportunities for members of the school community - parents, teachers, students, educational leaders - to meet Dr. Guillory over Zoom. We will announce these opportunities widely as soon as they are confirmed. The School Committee’s goal is to have a decision made by their March 4 meeting.

Dear Public Schools of Brookline and Town of Brookline Communities:
The Brookline School Committee is pleased to announce that we are launching our Superintendent search to secure a permanent superintendent to succeed Interim Superintendent Dr. James Marini. We have engaged the services of the Massachusetts Association of School Committees (MASC) to assist us with the search process. We are hoping to have a new Superintendent in place by July 1, 2021.
The following School Committee members have agreed to serve on the Superintendent Search Committee:

We will be sharing the list of community members who have agreed to serve on the Superintendent Search Public Advisory Committee as soon as it is finalized.
In an effort to solicit input from as many of our stakeholders as possible, the Superintendent Search Committee invites your participation in an online survey to help guide us through the selection of our next superintendent. We value your input and shall use it anonymously to better understand the needs, goals, and aspirations of our communities. This survey will also help us identify the attributes sought in our next district leader. Please complete the survey by January 7, 2021. (Please note that the survey linked above is in English. Translated versions of the survey will be published over the next few weeks for you to complete.)
